Medical Records

The term "medical records" can cover a wide range of documents that may capture any treatment or medical consultations you may have had at some point. The primary records are those held by your General Practitioner.

Why we need your records

The Insurance company may ask us to obtain a report from your GP or on rare occasions obtain your medical record. If so, your Insurance company will have asked that you complete and sign a Form of Authority (FOA) for the release of these records.

The Data Protection Act

Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998, your GP surgery and any hospital you may have visited have 40 working days to comply with our request for copies of your medical records.
